アメリカ・テキサス州のヘンリー・B・ゴンザレス・コンベンションセンターで開催された国際ネイル競技大会、2026年ネイリンピア・サンアントニオ大会で最もハイレベルなクラスDivision3で１位に輝いた『PIXEL 6247』をご紹介。

We are delighted to present PIXEL 6247, a work by nail artist Oksana Viriutina, who took first place in Division 3 — the highest-level category — at Nailympia San Antonio 2026, an international nail competition held at the Henry B. González Convention Center in Texas, USA.

パブロ・ピカソを思わせる断片的な視覚表現から着想を得た本作が描き出すのは、人間のアイデンティティの複雑さ。思考や記憶、感情、経験といった無数の要素が積み重なることで、一人の人間として形づくられていく。作品を構成する一つひとつのドットで内面世界の小さな断片を象徴としたそう。

近くで見れば、それぞれは抽象的な“点”だけれど無数の点が集まることで、一人の人物の表情や存在が浮かび上がる。作品名にある「PIXEL」は、デジタル画像が無数のピクセルによって構成されていることに由来するもので、本作ではその構造をデジタルではなく、実際のジェル素材によって立体的に再構築している。そして「6247」は、作品に使用されたジェルドットの正確な数。作品のスケールと精密さ、そして制作に費やされた膨大な手仕事を物語る数字でもある。

また、この作品はUV硬化ジェル、アクリルジェル、ジェルペイント、ジェルポリッシュなどで本来ネイルアートに用いられるプロ仕様の商材で構成されている。ネイルという小さなキャンバスに培われてきた素材と技術を、指先という枠から解放し、ファインアートとなった。「PIXEL 6247」は、ネイルアートが単なる装飾ではなく、新たな表現を生み出すアートの形となる作品である。

PIXEL 6247 is a sculptural portrait created from 6,247 individual gel dots, each made and placed entirely by hand. Inspired by a fragmented visual language reminiscent of Pablo Picasso, the work explores the complexity of human identity — how a person is shaped through the accumulation of countless thoughts, memories, emotions and experiences. Each dot is intended to represent a small fragment of that inner world.

Viewed up close, the individual elements appear as abstract points. Yet as thousands of them come together, the expression and presence of a single human figure gradually emerge.

The word “PIXEL” in the title refers to the way digital images are constructed from countless individual pixels. Here, however, that structure is recreated not digitally, but physically and three-dimensionally using gel materials. “6247” is the exact number of gel dots used in the piece — a figure that speaks to its scale, precision and the extraordinary amount of handwork involved in its creation.

The work is composed entirely of professional materials traditionally used in nail art, including UV-curing gel, acrylic gel, gel paint and gel polish.

By taking the materials and techniques developed on the tiny canvas of the nail and freeing them from the confines of the fingertip, the artist transforms them into a work of fine art. PIXEL 6247 demonstrates how nail art can move beyond decoration to become a medium capable of creating entirely new forms of artistic expression.

もう一つの作品は、Nailympia Anaheim 2026 アメリカ大会のエクストリームネイル部門で1位に入賞した「The Way Home」。夕焼け空を背景に舞う一羽のコウノトリを表現した本作は、偶然目にした一枚の絵から着想を得て生まれた。そこから自然とスケッチへ、そしてネイル作品へと姿を変えていったという。日本美術に感じる静かな美しさや、力強さの中に宿る気品。相反する要素が美しく共存する東洋的な感性を、ひとつの物語としてネイルに落とし込んでいる。描かれているのは、故郷を目指して飛び続けるコウノトリの旅路。竹林から飛び立ち、刃のように空を切り裂く雲を越え、やがて沈みゆく太陽の光へと向かっていく。困難を越えながら、自らの帰る場所を目指して進み続ける姿を、静かで力強い東洋の美とともに描いた作品である。

Another piece, “The Way Home,” won 1st place in Division 2 of the Extreme Nails category at Nailympia Anaheim 2026 in the United States.Set against a sunset sky, the piece depicts a single stork in flight. Inspired by a painting the artist happened to encounter, the idea developed naturally from an initial sketch into a nail artwork.

The work reflects the quiet beauty the artist finds in Japanese art, along with the sense of dignity that exists within its strength. These seemingly contrasting qualities are brought together through an Eastern sensibility and expressed as a single visual narrative.At the heart of the piece is the stork’s journey home. Rising from a bamboo grove, it flies through clouds that cut across the sky like blades, before continuing towards the fading light of the setting sun.

Through this journey, The Way Home portrays the determination to keep moving forward through hardship towards a place to return to, expressed through a vision of Eastern beauty that is both quiet and powerful.
