ネイルサロンの利用は、まだ多くの人にとって身近な存在とは言えないが、一度その魅力に触れると通い続けたくなる人がいる。その理由を探るため、長年ネイルを愛し、サロンへ通い続ける方々に話を伺った。

For many people, visiting a nail salon is still not standard practice. Yet once they discover its appeal, many find themselves coming back time and again. To uncover what keeps them returning, we spoke to people who have loved nails for years and continue to visit their favourite salons today.

　JANE★PLACEに通い始めたきっかけは、友達のネイルがすごくきれいでかわいかったので、紹介してもらいました。私はシンプルなデザインが多くて、シンプルだからこそフォルムがきれいなのが大切だと思っています。私の好みのフォルムやカラーを把握してくださっていて、理想通りに仕上げてくれるので、もう6,7年お任せしていますね。
　私は15年ほど前にネイルを始めた頃から今までずっとスカルプで、今回はネイルベッド長めで浅めのフレンチネイルにしてもらいました。スカルプのカラーは、私の地ヅメに合わせて、マットすぎず透け感も残した色に配合してくれています。
　スカルプは地ヅメの癖とかなく、きれいなフォルムにしてもらえるので手元がきれいに見えて、写真を撮った時とかに映り込む手がすごく映えるので、大好きで続けています。

I first started going to “JANE★PLACE” out of a friend’s recommendation. Her nails always looked so beautiful, I had to ask where she had them done. I usually wear simple designs, and because they’re so minimal, having a flawless shape is essential. My nail technician knows exactly the shape and colours I like, and she always creates what I have in mind, so I’ve been trusting her completely for the past six or seven years.
I’ve been wearing sculpted nails ever since I first started having my nails done around 15 years ago. This time, I chose a deep French manicure with an elongated nail bed. The base colour is mixed to match my natural nails, creating a finish that’s neither too matte nor opaque, with just the right amount of translucency.
What I love most about sculpted nails is that they create a balanced shape regardless of the natural shape of my own nails. They make my hands look more elegant, and they always look beautiful in photographs. That’s why I’ve never stopped wearing them.

　ネイリストさんとはもともと知り合いで、一度施術していただいた時の手元が、見違えるほどきれいになった感動が忘れられず、近所でサロンをオープンすると聞いてすぐに伺いました。セルフケアでは行き届かないお手入れをしてくださることはもちろん、居心地の良い空間にも魅了され、それから2年半通っています。
　手は年齢が表れやすいパーツですが、自分ではハンドケアを後回しにしてしまいがち。だからこそ月に1回ここに来ることで、手元も気持ちもリセットしてもらっています。特にお気に入りなのが炭酸パック。仕上がりはさらっとしているのにしっかり保湿され、透明感が出て、むくみもすっきりするような感覚があります。パック中のマッサージも本当に気持ち良く、もう欠かせません。プライベート空間で心身ともにリラックスできるサロンです。
　ジェルネイルは毎回フォルムの美しさに感動します。ツメが強調されすぎず、自然に手元に馴染む仕上がりもお気に入りです。

I knew my nail technician before becoming a client. The first time she treated my hands, I was amazed by how dramatically they transformed; I’ll never forget that feeling. When she opened a salon near my home, I booked in immediately. She provides a level of care that’s impossible to achieve on my own, and the calm and welcoming atmosphere has kept me coming back for the past two and a half years.
Our hands are often one of the first places to show signs of ageing, yet they’re so easy to neglect. That’s why coming here once a month has become a way to reset – not just for my hands, but for my mind.
My favourite treatment is the carbonated mask. It deeply hydrates without heaviness, giving my hands a beautiful radiance and reducing puffiness. I also look forward to the massage – it’s so relaxing, I couldn’t do without it now.
As for my nails, I’m impressed by the shape every time. I love how they are natural and never overdone, blending with the overall look of my hands.

　ネイルをしている女性の手元を見て、やってみたいなという気持ちはあったんですけど、周りにやっている人もいないし、少し偏見もあったりして勇気が出なかったんです。でも社会人になって、仕事柄周りにおしゃれな人も多いので、やってみようと、思い切ってネイルを始めました。
　なかなかメンズネイルに対応しているサロンがなくて、“メンズネイル専門店”をInstagramで探して選んだのが、今も通い続けているTONO。初めて来た時から話しやすくて、居心地もいいので、そのまま通い続けています。
　最近は色やイメージだけ伝えて、デザインはお任せしています。ずっと憧れがあったのもあってか、ネイルは今では欠かせない存在です。

I’ve always admired the look of manicured hands and wanted to try it myself. But no one around me had their nails done, and I had a few preconceptions too, so I never quite had the confidence to go for it.
Once I started working though, I was surrounded by stylish people, and I finally decided to take the plunge. At the time, it wasn’t easy to find a salon that catered to men. I searched Instagram and came across “TONO”, which is where I had my very first manicure. It’s the same salon I still visit today. From my first appointment, everyone made me feel comfortable. It was an easy place to relax and chat; I’ve never felt the need to go anywhere else.
These days, I simply decide a colour or overall mood, and leave the design entirely in their hands. Maybe it’s because I’d wanted to try it for so long, but from the moment I had my first manicure, I was completely hooked. Now, I can’t imagine my hands without my nails done.

　最初は姉妹店のmoonlitをInstagramで見つけて行っていたんですけど、noice nailができてからはこちらでsayakaさんに担当していただいています。パーツやシールを使わずすべて手描きでアートしてくれる唯一無二さに魅力を感じて、やめられなくなっていました。アートはもちろん、ケアやフォルムもいつも100%以上の満足度で、もうほかのサロンには行けなくなってしまっています（笑）
　デザインは、やりたいものがたくさんあって決めきれないので、sayakaさんのInstagramを何年も遡って、そこから写真を何枚か選んでイメージを伝えて、あとはお任せです。いつもかわいくきれいにしていただいているので、sayakaさんらしい繊細なアートを盛り盛りでお願いしています。

I discovered their sister salon, “moonlit”, on Instagram and started going there first. When “noice nail” opened, I moved over and have been seeing Sayaka ever since. What really drew me in was how every design is created by hand, without using charms or stickers. That level of craftsmanship feels completely one of a kind, and once I’d experienced it, I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else.
It’s not just the artwork, either. The nail care, the shaping, and the overall finish always exceed my expectations. Honestly, I’m so happy with the results every single time that I don’t think I could ever go to another salon!
I always have far too many ideas to choose from, so I scroll back through years of Sayaka’s Instagram posts, pick out a few designs I love, and use them to explain the look I’m after. After that, I leave the rest entirely in her hands. Since I know she’ll always create something beautiful, I ask her to fill my nails with the intricate, detail-packed hand-painted art that’s become her signature.
