いまや世界共通語となった“kawaii”。 それは単なる形容詞ではなく、一つの感覚であり、美意識でもある。それぞれが思い描くこの言葉には、複雑で多面的な魅力が秘められている。7名のネイルアーティストが“kawaii”を入口に作品を制作。5つの問いを重ねることで、より深くアーティストの真意に迫る。
Now a globally recognised term, “kawaii” has evolved beyond a simple adjective. It represents a distinct sensibility — an aesthetic in its own right. Each interpretation holds a layered, multifaceted appeal. Seven nail artists approach “kawaii” as a starting point for their creations. By revisiting five key questions, we uncover the thinking that shapes their work and draw closer to the core of their creative intent.

『neon nail』
A1. 色。ネオンカラーを重ねることで心が弾むポップさを表現しながら、ニュアンスアートで色同士を馴染ませ、大人でも纏いやすい柔らかさを残しました。単なる可愛らしさで終わらせず、軽さや奥行きを加えたバランスにこだわりました。
A1. Colour. Layering neon shades creates a playful energy, while nuanced art blends them into a softer expression. I aimed for a balance that goes beyond cuteness, adding depth and refinement.
A2. 見た瞬間に気分が上がり、思わず笑顔になって何度も指先を見返してしまう。そんなときめきこそが、日常を豊かにしてくれるものだと思っているからです。ネイルを通して、心が躍る感覚を届けたいと思っています。
A2. A design that instantly lifts your mood, brings a smile, and makes you look at your fingertips again and again. I want to deliver a sense of excitement through nails.
A3. 昔から、色に心を動かされることが多くありました。空や海、花々などの自然が見せるグラデーションは、それぞれが自由でありながら美しく調和しています。“こうあるべき”というルールに縛られず、自分が本当にときめく色を選ぶこと。それこそが私らしい美しさであり、“kawaii”の原点だと感じています。
A3. I’ve always been moved by colour. The gradients found in nature – skies, seas, and flowers – are free yet harmonious. Choosing colours that truly excite me, without rules, is the origin of my own “kawaii”.
A4. 一日に何度も目に入るものだからこそ、気持ちの面にも大きく働きかける力があると思っています。少し疲れた日でも、ふと指先を見れば自然と心が明るくなり、 自分らしさを取り戻せる。ネイルとは、自分をご機嫌にしてくれる小さなお守りのような存在です。
A4. Because our nails are exposed all day, they can influence how we feel. Even on tired days, a glance at your fingertips can brighten your mood. Like a small charm that delivers happiness.

『Finding』
A1. 日常の偶然にキュンと心動かされる瞬間を作品に落とし込みました。大胆にくり抜いたハート型や触れたくなる立体感で遊び心をプラス。5本それぞれのデザインや見る角度によって、多様な愛らしさを感じていただけたら嬉しいです。
A1. I tried to capture the unexpected moments in everyday life that make the heart flutter. Bold heart-shaped cut-outs and tactile details add a playful touch, with each nail revealing a different kind of charm.
A2. 雲の形がハートに見えたり、太陽光を浴びた綿埃がキラキラと輝いていたり。意図せず見つける“kawaii”に惹かれます。狙っていないからこそ、出合えたときに心が躍る。生活の中のふとした瞬間に潜む愛おしさを大切にしています。
A2. I’m drawn to the “kawaii” found by chance, like a cloud resembling a heart, or dust sparkling in sunlight. These unplanned discoveries feel special because they bring unexpected joy to everyday moments.
A3. 植物を育てたり、自然の中で過ごす時間が好きで、季節によって移ろう色や形、偶然生まれる不揃いなグラデーションに心地よさを感じてきました。整いすぎていない、ありのままの美しさこそが、私の感性や作品づくりの原点です。
A3. I love growing plants and spending time in nature. The changing colours, forms, and imperfect gradients of each season have inspired me. Beauty in its natural, unrefined state is the root of my expression.
A4. 今回の作品は、光の当たり方によってハートの影が浮かび上がる仕掛けを施しています。サプライズに気づいたとき、心がほどけ、肩の力が抜ける。何気ない日常の中にある小さな幸せに気づき、温かな気持ちになれる。そんなきっかけになれたら嬉しいです。
A4. This design reveals heart-shaped shadows depending on the light. Discovering such a small surprise can soften the heart and bring warmth, helping us notice the little joys around us.

『Sweet Rebellion-かわいさは、強さの中に。-』
A1. シンプルな甘さで終わらせないこと。ロングカーブの強いシェイプやチェーン、スパイクスタッズなどの力強い要素に、ピンクや星の輝きをかけ合わせることで生まれる、“強さの中にある可愛さ”という絶妙なバランスこそが、私の描く“kawaii”です。
A1. My “kawaii” is not simple sweetness. It lies in the balance between strength and charm – bold shapes, chains, and spikes combined with pink and sparkling details.
A2. 一目で分かる甘さよりも、強さの中にふと覗く可愛らしさに惹かれます。ギャップにこそ、その人の魅力が詰まっていると思っていて。その複雑さに、心が引き込まれます。だからこそ、相反する二つの要素をミックスした表現にこだわっています。
A2. I’m drawn to cuteness hidden in strength, rather than obvious sweetness. The contrast reveals individuality, and that complexity inspires my expression.
A3. 幼い頃、姉はピンク、自分は青という記号がなんとなくあって、自然と男の子らしい役割で育ちました。女の子らしさへの憧れもありながら、かっこいい自分も結局好きで。大人になってピンクも大好きになりましたが、それだけではどこか物足りず、双方を組み合わせるスタイルに辿り着きました。
A3. Growing up, pink was associated with my sister and blue with me, naturally placing me in a more “boyish” role. I admired femininity but I also loved a cooler aesthetic. As an adult, I embrace pink, but found my true expression in combining both sides.
A4. 自分らしさを肯定してくれる力。強さも可愛さも、両方諦めなくていい。ふと手元を見たときに「これが私だ」と思えることが一番大事で、そこから自信に繋がり、周りに流されず自分らしく生きるパワーが湧いてくるんだと信じています。
A4. Nails have the power to affirm who we are. Strength and cuteness can coexist. When you look at your hands and feel “this is me”, that confidence allows you to live authentically.

『layered』
A1. 質感や色の引き算と全体バランス。今回のデザインでは、ミラー、レース、デニム、ホログラムなどファッション的な要素をランダムなボーダーで構築し、質感のレイヤードと抜け感によって、“kawaii”を表現しました。
A1. Balance using texture and colour. I layered fashion elements such as mirror, lace, denim, and hologram in random stripes, expressing “kawaii” through contrast and openness.
A2. 全身のスタイリングでは少しハードルが高く感じるものも、ネイルなら挑戦できたり、新しい自分に出会える可能性を感じるからです。私にとっての“kawaii”とは、「こうなりたい」という憧れや、誰かと共有したくなるときめきから生まれるもの。そんな瞬間を自分でも生み出したいからこそ、この表現を追求しています。
A2. Nails allow us to explore styles that may feel challenging through clothing and help us discover new sides of ourselves. My “kawaii” comes from aspiration and the excitement of wanting to share that feeling with others.
A3. 原点にあるのは、感性の赴くままに楽しむ遊び心。正解を探すのではなく、その時の自分が一番可愛いと思えるバランスを選ぶことを意識しています。完璧さだけを求めるのではなく、完成した指先を見た瞬間に心が弾むかどうか。それが、私にとって大切な美意識です。
A3. My inspiration comes from playful freedom and trusting my senses. Rather than seeking a perfect answer, I choose the balance that feels most beautiful in the moment. The joy felt when looking at the finished nails is what matters most.
A4. ファッションの一部であり、気持ちまで彩る美容。服に合わせて選ぶ時間も楽しく、落ち込んだ日も指先を見ることで「可愛いから大丈夫」と心が整う。お客様にとっても、自己肯定感を高めてくれる存在であってほしいです。
A4. Nails are both fashion and beauty that colours our emotions. Choosing designs to match outfits, or looking at your fingertips on difficult days, can bring comfort and confidence.
